Tim Ferrell, MD, PT

Board Leader

Dr. Ferrell is an avid athlete, having completed some of the toughest ultramarathon races in the US. His journey as a healer began with home health Physical Therapy leading to becoming a Board Certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician. As a team leader Dr. Ferrell is highly experienced  serving as Medical Director for inpatient rehabilitation hospitals across the country. His grandfather was a proud Navy Veteran serving in WWII.

Violet Ferrell

Board

Violet cherishes her time serving veterans from 1978-2009 at the John J Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri including supervision of Veteran Service Organization appointees, volunteer Service Director, Public Affairs coordinator, and working with the American Legion as a committee chair.  Now she ejoys her retierment with her husband traveling and Goldie, family time, and supporting the work of OWN and the Healing Heroes program.

Jim Ferrell

Board

Jim, a retired teacher, has served the growth and well-being of youth in several capacities including teaching, juvenile detention outdoor recreation programs, and Quality Assurance Supervision for the Missouri Department of Mental Health. His father honorably served in the Navy during WWII and was an American Legion member. Jim has supported our Veterans as a volunteer at the J. pershing VA Center.

David A. Smith, MSW

Board Consultant

David is a former Marine serving honorably from 1964-68. His family is rich with dedication to the armed services. His Father served in the U.S. Navy (1917- 1919) on the USS New Mexico Battleship during WWI. Two brothers served during WWII and three brothers who served in the U.S. Army in Korean Conflict, the Air Force for over 20 years doing two tours of duty in Vietnam, and the third in the National Guard. His volunteerism for Veterans started as a boy raising money for the American Legion. In 1973 after graduation with his MSW with his friend Dan, a Vietnam Combat Veteran, started the Forgotten Warriors Post 101 in Missoula. From 1976 – 1996 David served on a local board of Veterans for the Vet Center in Missoula. David was key in creating the Healing Heroes program.
